The front-loading approach is key. I've found that pairing a detailed initial prompt with a properly configured AGENTS.md file gets you even further. Codex picks up project conventions automatically if you set up the cascading rules right. This is the new way. The value is moving from writing code to architecting systems and defining clear, actionable requirements.
