Amusing, but let's face it - we're not going to get anything comparable from any other AI on the planet.
And as you say, even on Poke, it ain't gonna last.
All the providers are finding out they can't afford to be cheap - and when the shakeout hits - as it will inevitably - more of them are going to raise prices, not lower them.
The coding AIs are already either rate limiting or raising prices.
Poke is basically gaslighting its consumers in the hopes of speeding up adoption.
Which, if you think about it, is not "cute" - it's insulting.
Not to mention the privacy invasion I see all through your conversations.
Also, not quite sure what you're referring to as privacy invasion in my conversations. The majority (all?) of what's its referencing in these screenshots is public information on me.
I was referring to it supposedly scanning your emails and Substack (although, of course, the Substack is readily available online.)
When it comes to privacy, I'm never concerned about what "ad data" they have on me - since I'm not one to be manipulated into buying something I don't need. That's the advantage of not having a lot of money to burn - you husband it more. :-)
I think the most likely scenario is Interaction gets a pretty stable business and then gets bought. They're definitely hemorrhaging money right now, especially with the ability to earn it for free.
Privacy invasion is everywhere and people should be careful out there. Poke isn't doing anything more egregious than what every other single tech company on the planet does. The amount of ad data that companies have on us is horrifying but it's our reality.
But if your overall point is "AI companies are going to raise prices" then yeah, sure. Eventually there will be 10-20 that remain and the others will fall by the wayside or get eaten up. There's nothing stopping ChatGPT from making a text message assistant, and given Poke's popularity right now I'd be shocked if they didn't.
This new approach to onboarding is really interesting. Instead of a standard process, it creates an engaging challenge that builds a connection with the product.
They don't store any of your data or make it human readable, and you can toggle settings to disallow them from using any of your data in analytics. The permission settings are identical to third-party email apps, and equivocal to any risks with hooking up your accounts to things like ChatGPT or Gemini within Google Workspace.
But it's a personal preference; Poke works fine as just a general assistant as well for weather updates, reminders, etc. I'm pretty careful myself about what data I allow any apps or bots to access.
The emoji work around is hilarious. AGI is farther than we think
They did fix the 0️⃣ though, maybe after your post

Wouldn't touch this with a ten-foot pole.

Yeah, instant and aggressive engagement. Good stuff
Is it safe to give Poke all that access to your email?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
